BRE Friday Communicator - May 14, 2021

Highlights this week: Mr. Hirn’s class designed and made planters using geometry and form lessons from Math; several of our students won prizes in the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day contest; the Brackendale Library is hosting a virtual book fair from May 17 – 31; School District #48 is looking for host families for the International Student Program; and there is a plethora of ways you can support Brackendale Elementary PAC and the new Outdoor Classroom and Play Area project. BRE Friday Communicator - May 7, 2021

Highlights this week: Getting Outside - for learning, play, socializing at lunch and mental well-being; Reading Link Challenge - students reflect on this event; SD48 24 Hour Drum; Bike to School Week; our BRE PAC are working very hard to provide a new Outdoor Classroom and Nature Play area – see the Parent Information section for ways you can get involved and/or support this great project. Active and Safe Routes to School 2021 Survey

If you are a parent or caregiver of a student at Mamquam Elementary, Garibaldi Highlands Elementary, École Squamish Elementary, Brackendale Elementary, Valleycliffe Elementary or Stawamus - Cultural Journeys, the District of Squamish would like to hear from you. Your family’s input will be used to update the Best Routes to School maps and will help the District to prioritize future infrastructure projects and monitor travel mode share throughout our community. Do not forget to complete the online survey by May 7, 2021!

COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

The Ministry of Education has asked that we promote the provincial COVID-19 Immunization Plan website. This website provides information regarding age-based vaccination clinics for the general public and community-wide vaccination programs targeting Squamish and other high transmission areas. Registration is open to anyone born in 2003 or earlier (18+). To register or book an appointment visit the website or call 1.833.838.2323. Also check social media for updates on drop-in dates/times at the Brennan Park Immunization Clinic.

Highlights this week: Theatre Workshops; Earth Day; Reading Link Challenge; Health and Safety – the Science Behind Mindfulness and virtual Workshops for Parents/Caregivers; and fundraising continues for the new Outdoor Classroom and Nature Play area. Highlights this week include: COVID-19 and Parking Lot Safety, Red Cross babysitter training, links to resources including the Sea to Sky Safety Net Resource Hub and KidSport Squamish; and lots of information from the PAC - there are fundraisers - the On Line Silent Auction, Pizza Day, Spring Plant Sales and more, and lots of ways you can help support the new Outdoor Classroom and Nature Play Area! Updated BRE COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan - April 2, 2021

Please take a look at the most recent BRE COVID safety measures (see yellow highlighted text in the document). These further enhancements address the requirement for our students in grades 4 through 6 to wear a non-medical mask in school and on school buses and the recommendation for students in K through grade 3 that they do so as per the Provincial Guidelines.
